85 worth Street

tribeca, New York

83-85 Worth Street is a full building conversion of an historic 1860’s dry goods warehouse in Tribeca. Featuring full floor condo units and a new penthouse addition, the design highlights the fifty-foot-wide street frontage with an open living dining room looking south onto Worth street. One exits the elevator directly into this living space and immediately experiences the expanse of windows each detailed with white oak millwork surrounds. Original heavy timber beams and cast iron columns were carefully restored, and define the corridor running midspan through the apartment. The kitchen, typically open to the living and dining spaces, has concealed fluted glass pocket doors that close off the room when hosting. Rear bedrooms open onto a restored full lot fire escape that doubles as outdoor balcony pace. Bathrooms highlight large slabs of patterned stone with soft artisanal plaster on complementing walls. A media room introduces color and texture into the muted apartment pallet.

In addition to the dwelling units, the renovation features two floors of amenity space. Known as the ‘Worth Club’ this full spa and private gym occupies the cellar but conceals its subterranean location with high ceilings and large glass windows that open onto the rear areaway. A stone clad steam room and adjacent wood lined sauna abut the massage treatment room and a relaxation lounge. Kid’s Room, Teen Room and Conference room complete the tenant amenity spaces.
